Partial LTL Shipments
Individual and small to medium sized companies face the predicament of having to arrange shipments that will allow them to be profitable and still get their freight delivered in a timely manner. To do so, shippers typically spend hours, if not days searching for carriers that will best suit there needs, as well as their budgets. Freight Corner, through its large network of LTL Freight carriers is able to utilize our deeply discounted rates to pick up freight from multiple customers via numerous carriers. Our freight carriers then transport these items to their local terminals, and consolidate freight that is traveling in the same general direction. These smaller LTL shipments are then loaded onto trucks that will deliver to their destination terminals. They are then dispatched for delivery to their individual shipment destinations. Freight Corner has a large database with access to over 65 different quality freight companies and always places you with the safest most cost effective and time sensitive way to handle your freight.
Less-Than-Truckload or LTL
(LTL) shipping is the transportation of relatively small freight or individual freight items less than 350 square feet of trailer space combined.
  • ALL ITEMS MUST BE IN BOXES OR CRATES IN ORDER FOR THE FREIGHT TO BE ACCEPTED BY THE CARRIER.
  • YOUR FREIGHT MUST BE PACKAGED APPROPRIATELY AND DOCKSIDE OR AN EASLIY ACCESSIBLE LOADING AREA AT TIME OF PICKUP.
  • IN MOST CASES YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO LOAD AND UNLOAD YOUR FREIGHT. THE DRIVER MAY ASSIST IN LOADING/UNLOADING, BUT IS NOT REQUIRED TO DO SO, AND YOU MAY INCUR ADDITIONAL CHARGES FOR SUCH HELP IF USED.
  • HEAVY ITEMS MAY REQUIRE LIFT GATE SERVICE IF NO DOCK FACILITIES ARE AVAILABE WHICH IS ALSO AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE.PICKUPS ARE DONE BETWEEN 12PM AND 5PM WEEKDAYS. DELIVERIES ARE USUALLY IN THE AM. DATES AND TIMES ARE ALWAYS ESTIMATED AND NOT GUARANTEED, SO ALWAYS ALLOW FOR LEEWAY ON PICKUP/DELIVERIES.
Formula to acquire square footage and pounds per cubic foot
  • TO FIGURE OUT THE SQUARE FOOTAGE OF YOUR FREIGHT, THE FORMULA IS: LENGTH X WIDTH X HEIGHT DIVIDED BY 1728 EQUALS THE SQUARE FEET OF THE ITEM. FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS JUST REPEAT FOR EACH ADDITIONAL ITEM, THEN ADD TOTALS, THE SQUARE FOOTAGE WILL BE THE TOTAL OF ALL ITEMS COMBINED.
  • T0 FIGURE POUNDS PER CUBIC FOOT, DIVIDE THE TOTAL WEIGHT OF ALL ITEMS BY THE TOTAL SQUARE FOOTAGE (AS FIGURED ABOVE). THIS WILL GIVE YOU THE TOTAL POUNDS PER CUBIC FOOT.
  • IF A SHIPMENT IS PALLETIZED, THE DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT AND THE DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT OF THE PALLET MUST BE USED TO DETERMINE DENSITY. FOR EXEMPLE, A PALLET THAT IS 6 INCHES HIGH PLUS A 22 INCH CARTON HAS A TOTOL HEIGHT OF 28 INCHES.  THE WEIGHT MUST ALSO INCLUDE THE WEIGHT OF THE PALLET, IN ORDER TO BE TOTAL WEIGHT.
  • With so many different LTL carriers on the market, it can be difficult to know which one to choose. That is why Freight Corner checks weekly with all of its carriers on industry reliability and their safety standards. Due to the amount of freight shipping options, all online freight quotes are given at the lowest possible freight estimates. Be as descriptive as you can of the item or items that you are shipping; this will help our freight agents more accurately quote your shipment and get you the lowest freight quote available. Freight Corner recommends always verifying your online freight estimate with a live agent. We look forward to handling all of your LTL shipping needs!
